The Temporary Works Supervisor Training Course is a 1-day intermediate course designed for site or works supervisors, general foremen, installation supervisors and site engineers, or anyone supporting a temporary works coordinator, or who works with, or supervises contractors involved with the installation or implementation of temporary works, including those who may be appointed as a Temporary Works Supervisor. This course is CITB certified.

Accessing online learning
Online courses are delivered via Microsoft Teams or Zoom. You can join the course via any internet browser and enter the meeting ID and password provided in your joining instructions.

Objective
This training course meets the requirements outlined in BS 5975-1:2024 clause 4.2.1 for a temporary works supervisor.
- understand the duties of a temporary works supervisor
- understand the procedures outlined in BS 5975-1:2024 Section 2
- understand the principles of design and build risk management
Topics covered
The learning outcomes cover types of temporary works, their history and legislative framework, causes and consequences of failure, avoidance of failure, stakeholder responsibilities, management and control of design, key processes, procurement and implementation risk classification.
Prerequisites
You must have a good understanding of spoken and written English and a working knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, CDM, PUWER, LOLER, PPE, manual handling operations and work at height regulations.
Learners should be prepared to discuss how health and safety legislation is relevant to temporary works and how guidance notes may assist safe practices.
Joining your course
Once you’ve booked, you'll be sent joining instructions and links to complete course registration and a pre-course questionnaire. The course should be complete by 17:00pm.

For remote learning, course publications are provided electronically via eBooks at no cost. Access to the Study Guide will be provided by your tutor.
Course assessment
You will be required to complete a final exam with multiple-choice and free-text questions. You will be given guidance on how to approach the exam and all the materials to be able to pass.
Frequently asked questions
What is the pass mark?
To gain the qualification, you must achieve at least 76% in the final exam.
What happens if I don’t pass the exam?
If you score at least 60% you may be offered an exam resit. If you score less than 60%, or less than 76% following the exam resit, you will need to complete the 1-day CITB Temporary Works Supervisor Training Course again.
